Choosing a course in Australia: 7 things to check
The questions that separate a course that leads somewhere from one that only looks good on paper.

Start with the job, not the course
Work backwards. Name two or three jobs you would actually apply for at the end, then check what they ask for. If the course does not lead to those, or to something you can transfer, it is an expensive hobby.
Look at real advertisements for those jobs and note the requirements. That list is your course's benchmark.
The seven checks
One: is the provider registered to enrol international students? Two: does the course appear on the register for the visa you hold? Three: what are the entry requirements, including English? Four: what does the full fee add up to across the whole course, not per year?
Five: what will you actually be able to do at the end — is it practical and assessed, or mostly reading? Six: what support exists for finding work? Seven: can you change or exit without losing a whole year?
The one red flag
A promise of a guaranteed job, a guaranteed visa or a guaranteed outcome in exchange for a fee is the loudest warning sign in this whole field. No honest provider can promise those.
Verify the provider and the course on the official registers before you pay anything, and keep your own copy of everything you are told.
The one thing to take away
Check the course against a job you can name, and check the provider's registration before you pay.
Always check the official source. Rates, fees and rules change.
